FINGERPRINTS
  • Residents
    • Can I have my fingerprints taken?
      • YES, if you are a resident of Buxton you may call in and schedule an appointment with the Administrative Secretary to get your fingerprints done. You may bring in your fingerprint cards you were given.
  • Non-Residents
    • We do not fingerprint non-residents.
CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS
  • If you are a resident of Buxton, you can apply for a Concealed Carry Permit through the Buxton Police Department.
  • Please fill out the application and turn it in to the Buxton PD.
    • The application requires the following items
      • A Fully Completed Application
      • Copies of all concealed firearm permits issued by other states or municipalities within this state.
      • A copy of you DD-214 form, if you were a member of the Armed Forces of the United States.
      • A driver’s license, state ID, or proof of voter registration, or tax bill showing residency in Buxton.
      • Proof of knowledge of handgun safety (Certification of handgun safety course)
    • The application requires all questions to be answered to the best of your ability, all pages to be initialed in the bottom right corner, and requires someone to witness your signatures and sign on the witness line. Do not leave any blank spaces, if something does not apply to you, please enter N/A.
    • There is a fee of $50 for new applicants or a fee of $35 for all other renewals. ALL fees must be paid by either Money Order or Check, made payable to TOWN OF BUXTON. The fee is not due until the Concealed Weapons Specialist advises you payment is needed, typically expected at the time the identification card is delivered.
  • IT WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY 30 DAYS TO PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION.

REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS
  • Always take precautions to protect yourself and your family against assaults. In order to be a registered sex offender, one must be caught AND convicted.
  • The sex offenders listed on the website are not wanted. They should not be harassed or assaulted and anyone who does so can be held legally accountable.
  • Some sex offenders may be on probation with conditions not to be in the company of children under a particular age. If any special conditions exist, or if the person is on probation you may make an inquiry through the Sex Offender Registry.

COMPLAINT AGAINST EMPLOYEE?
  • Those who have a complaint against an employee of the Buxton PD, must complete a Report of Complaint Against Law Enforcement Personnel form prior to speaking with a supervisor.
  • Please complete the form to its fullest and turn in to the Buxton PD. Please be sure to leave a valid phone number for a supervisor to reach out to you concerning your complaint.

  • If you were involved in an incident and your property was seized by police, you must fill out the Property Request Form in order to begin the process of receiving back the seized property.
  • **NOTE: The property in question cannot be released to you without providing specific information, it will only be released at the approval of the detective and/or DA’s office, and can only be released to the owner with proper ID.
  • You will be contacted at the phone number you provide on the form, when the property is ready for pickup.
  • THE DEPARTMENT WILL DO ITS BEST TO RESPOND TO THIS REQUEST WITHIN 5 BUSINESS DAYS. THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOUR PROPERTY WILL BE AVAILABLE IN 5 BUSINESS DAYS.
