Introducing the Buxton Public Safety Drone Team!
The Buxton Public Safety Drone Team was established in 2025. We were able to acquire the drone through the Narragansett Number One Foundation who so graciously covered the whole and complete cost of the drone and the establishment of the program!
DETAILS ABOUT DRONE FUNCTIONALITY:
Some functions about our drone, a Parrot ANAFI USA:
- Long-range zoom inspection with up to 32x zoom, including the ability to identify details like license plates from distance.
- Thermal imaging / hotspot detection for identifying heat signatures and small hot spots.
- Search and rescue support, especially for finding missing persons and spotting heat sources.
- Infrastructure and asset inspections from a distance using zoom and stabilized imaging.
- Mission planning and automated route flying with preset flight paths.
- Return-to-Home safety function when commanded, on disconnect, or when battery runs low.
- Hand launch and hand recovery, useful for operations in tight or uneven environments.
- Rapid deployment thanks to folding design, 3-second unfold time, and fast case-to-flight readiness.
- Operation in challenging weather with IP53 protection and strong wind resistance.
- Extended mission flights with up to 32 minutes of flight time and up to 4 km transmission range.
