How can I contest a traffic citation?
On the traffic ticket are instructions for contesting the ticket. You must check off the box indicating that you want to contest the ticket and mail the ticket to the Violations Bureau at the address listed on the ticket. You have 20 days from the day you got the ticket to do this. If you contest the ticket, you will receive a court date by mail from the Violations Bureau. The notice will be sent to you at the address on the ticket, so please make sure that the address on the ticket is correct. The Violations Bureau will not research correct addresses or P.O. boxes.

How can I get a background check?
You will need to contact the Maine State Bureau of Identification at 207-624-7240. This ensures that the most up-to-date information is provided.
How can I get a copy of a police report?
Not every police report is available for public release. Arrest reports that have not gone through the court system must be obtained through the York County District Attorney’s office. You should complete a request form located here. The request should be mailed, dropped off, or emailed to one of the following:

I lost the copy of my traffic citation/Lost the summons with my court date on it, what do I do?
If you are sure that your ticket or summons was issued to you by the Buxton Police Department, contact the Court Officer during the day, Monday through Friday, at 207-929-6612 to request the information needed or email the Court Officer with your full name, date of birth, and the information you are seeking.
